Rain Chances Diminish Again

SCATTERED STORMS...The upcoming weekend looks decent, with a lesser chance of afternoon storms than some of us got earlier this week. I still don't see any heatwaves like we had in June, but on the downside I also don't see widespread rains like the central and eastern sections of NC are getting. It's pretty incredible the differences in rain accumulation between what the Charlotte region gets compared with what has been happening in our backyards the last several weeks. Once you get to the northern and eastern stretches of our foothill region, the rains have really picked up, with several inches falling around Lawndale and Toluca, and almost none for Earl, Boiling Springs and Forest City. A cold front comes close to stalling over us this weekend, so I'm leaving a "chance" of rain in, but we may barely clear out totally. Hurricane Bertha will be in the middle of the Atlantic and should get swept up by this front, and could get slung into eastern Canada next week. The tropics are getting active, so things can change quickly as we get deeper into the season. Maybe we'll get some needed long term rains from a system soon.
