BLAZING HOT WEEKEND...Remember just 2 short months ago when we had a week of misty drizzly weather and temps staying in the 40's all day? You're probably wishing for those days right about now. Although the calendar says June, we'll have heat that makes any July or August heatwave proud, beginning Friday. The upper level maps I'm looking at bring back the nightmarish memories of just about all last Spring and Summer, where a closed high pressure sat permanently on top of Cleveland and Rutherford Counties. I'll be darned, if the exact same thing isn't happening again! Although it will be humid and muggy and the clouds look like they may open up and pour at any time, the truth is that our atmosphere will be "capped off" up around 10,000 feet, meaning it's bark is much worse than it's bite. There will be just a few scattered pop up storms though, so consider yourself lucky if you can temporarily cool off when you get under one. The best chance would be the higher elevations of upper Rutherford and Cleveland, most of us will just be scorching hot with heat indices near 100 this weekend. This is bad news for our drought. Hope your A/C is working good! On the plus side, we'll save some $ on charcoal...Grill not needed! Just place hotdogs and burgers on carhood, wait 5 minutes...Flip, then done!
THE FORECAST...For our readers in Grover, Spindale and Green Hill Friday Through Sunday...HOT! Highs in the mid 90's, Lows upper 60's. Very slight chance of afternoon/evening T'storms.
