Beginning of November Looks Cool, then COLD

Saturday Update: A Major cold front will plow through here beginning early Tuesday, sending our temps down into the 20's for several nights. Tuesday and Wednesday are resembling mid December instead of early November, with blustery cold winds and highs in the 50's, lows in the 20's.
NICE FALL WEATHER...After some decent rainfall last week (and our first frost) we are now fully into regular Fall mode around here. Although most of the county received between 1 and 2 inches of rain last week, the first 10 months of the year have been the driest on record for Shelby and Forest City. Much of the central Carolinas got dumped on with 4 to 8 inches of rain last week, really putting a dent in the drought there. I think this will be a sign of the Winter ahead: Volatility. With strong amplification in the jetstream, we will have huge swings in temperature and precipation patterns. But first, the weekend looks superb, with temps about where they should be for early November. By the middle of next week, I am expecting fhe first real shot of cold air to come into the country, providing snow for the Midwest and Great Lakes, and a healthy dose of cold air coming here too. Then a quick rebound. Enjoy your weekend!

THE FORECAST...

Friday Through Sunday...Partly to mostly sunny, with cool mornings, nice afternoons. Highs mid 60's, lows upper 30's to low 40's.
