Hurricane Humberto Remnants Heading our Way!

Finally, there's hope for rain for western NC. "Humberto" formed into a weak cat 1 hurricane just off the Texas coast late Wednesday, and is already inland Louisiana, heading for the mountains of NC. The storm will weaken, but combine with a front approaching our area and should be able to deliver the biggest widespread rain since March 1st! At this time, I'd expect rain to start Friday and spread over the area by midday, and we should have almost steady rain and showers through Friday night, before ending Saturday morning. The weekend still looks nice and much cooler.
I'll be keeping an eye on Tropical Depression number 8 over the next 5 to 7 days, as it may approach the Southeast later next week.

This graphic is from NOAA. The track of "Humberto" should end up just a little north of this one, as most models and the current radar trends show a tendency to move more northeast, without a dive back south.

Enjoy the rain!
