Friday Night Snow?

A gulf low will be skirting along the Gulf Coast Thursday and Friday, and the models place Shelby right on the northern edge of the snow. Meanwhile, its plenty cold enough SOUTH of us to snow, and probably to the tune of 4" or even more in places like Montgomery, Atlanta, Macon and Columbia by early Saturday. Its too early to draw the northern extent yet since the models, and storms in the recent past, have all come a little bit further north than originally thought. I'll continue to monitor this one and see just how far north it gets, but its most likely going to remain just south of our area by a few miles, atleast as far as the heavy snow goes.
Meanwhile, another storm will drop out of Canada on Sunday, which is an odd setup, and the models all bring it right toward our area Monday, with snow breaking out. This would be a very unusual setup, but then again, this Winter has been bound by historic anomalies so far, so I wouldn't rule anything out. You can forget about Spring time for a while yet...the longer range still looks cold.
