Another Big Rain Tuesday/Wednesday...Then cold, snow and Ice Possible

Tired of the rain yet? We've got one more big rain on the way later Tuesday into the first part of Wednesday, then a cold arctic front pushes through and ushers in the coldest air of the season for the end of the week. What happens next is going to be interesting. See the North America map, from the European Forecast modeling. It shows a split in the flow for the West Coast, which allows cold arctic air to come into most of the country, meanwhile a weak low will undercut the western ridge, and ride along the southern states by Friday. Snow, sleet and freezing rain will be developing on this southern jetstream across Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas by Friday.  The question is what is the exact track, and what will our temperatures be late Friday? Right now this set-up is pretty indicative of several winter storms of the 1970's and 1980's, but we actually haven't seen this too much in the last decade. I think we're heading down a wintry road. More updates later this week!
