Monday Morning Update...Heavy Rains Wednesday
The evolution of a heavy rainfall still appears on tap beginning later Tuesday and continuing until Thursday. A deep and slow moving trough of low pressure will carve out in the center of the country and slowly sweep east through the week. With such a deep flow out of the Gulf, this is usually a BIG ticket item for heavy duty rains across the Southeast. It appears there could be a "Part 2" to this storm as an upper low pinches off somewhere over the Deep South. Some models send in enough cold air during this storm on Thursday to switch the mountains over to heavy snow as the storm begins to head across the Carolinas, but right now I still don't trust the Thursday maps. I'll have to wait and see if we get a concensus for Thursday before calling for an ending as snow, even here in the foothills. It is "possible" but not likely at this point, just more needed rain. I'll have another update atleast by Tuesday morning, if not sooner.
