Icy Tuesday, Then Bitter Cold Again

After a low of 12 degrees Monday morning, the afternoon promises a slight rise to above freezing by later afternoon. But Tuesday morning we have yet another precip maker on the way. It looks like freezing drizzle will start around daybreak over Cleveland County, and we could have a quick glaze of slippery ice by midday. Later in the day, we will continue to have light freezing rain and temperatures hovering near freezing most of the day, but I think Shelby does go just barely above freezing. This DOES NOT look like an "ice storm" where the power goes out, trees come down, etc., but freezing drizzle is the worst stuff to drive on. When you spray a mist onto a road surface that is 25 degrees, well you get the picture. The upper part of the county could remain cold enough for freezing rain to last into the night, then the precipitation ends. By Wednesday, we clear out and start turning much colder again, and by Thursday morning we're back into the deep freeze.
Highs Thursday won't go above freezing. This will make the third time this year that Shelby has had a high temperature BELOW FREEZING! Pretty amazing cold airmasses we've had lately. Global Warming, humph!
