Rainy Midweek, then Muggy and Murky

Muggy Late Summertime Weather...We're getting close to the time of year for early Fall cold fronts to come on through and usher in a nice dry airmass, but for now that will have to wait. By early Saturday, Hurricane "Ike" will be hitting south Texas and the wind field around him will stall the cold front heading our way. This will place most of the southern states under a moist and muggy airflow for a few days until Ike dissipates next week. By then, I think we will finally have a full-fledged cold front sweep all the mess out to sea. The good news is that there will still be some rain chances although its hard to say which days have the best chance in this 'murky' flow. The tropics can still flare up, although Josephine has already vanished, Kyle may be next. If you're wondering what the Winter might bring, it seems that following a drought, when rains return in August and September (like 1986 and 2002) that's actually a good sign for snow in the following Winter...something to ponder. THE FORECAST...For our readers in Vale, Washburn and Kings Mountain FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...Periods of sunshine, but a lot of clouds too. Risk of showers or T'storms. Muggy with highs mid 80's, Lows mid 60's.
