HURRICANE DEAN... is now forming in the Atlantic Ocean and heading west. I see no reason why he won't become atleast a category 3 hurricane, maybe stronger, as conditions are very favorable. The big question will be where he heads early next week. Long range forecasts on storms like this range thousands of miles, but anywhere from the Outer Banks of NC to the Texas Gulf Coast are at risk for a landfall. Check my website for updates. It's too early to say if we will get any rain from Dean (or the next one, Erin) but hopefully the whole jetstream flow will be shook up enough to allow rain to begin again by month's end. Our drought is now pushing Shelby over a foot of rain below normal this year. The leaves are falling way too early and creeks are drying up,due to the stress of this heatwave and drought. Meanwhile, Texas can't catch a break from the heavy rain. Our weekend looks hot and dry.

The Forecast...
Friday Through Sunday...Partly sunny and hot. Highs low 90's, and lows upper 60's. Slight chance of storms Sunday.
